"All I want is to be anything but I'm nothing."

That's how I feel when I see the people around me playing musical instruments.

Those lucid notes; sometimes flowing, sometimes skipping, sometimes not at all.

I just can't get enough of them.

Since young, I have been wanting to learn at least one musical instrument and be really good at it.

Not just good but really good.

To the extent of performing in top-notch concert halls.

To the extent of meeting top-notch musicians from all over the world.

But at this point of time, all I can think is "It's too late.

It's too late to achieve what I want.

After all the world is a competitive world.

All I can be is a casual musician.

Playing music only for myself and the people around me.

I guess that should be enough.

That should be alright for me.

And at the same time, I will sing for myself.

And then I will sing for my family, my friends and the generations to come.

I will sing and play and spread my love for music.

At the end of the day it won't be all or nothing.

At the end of the day the first sentence will change.

"All I want is to be anything, but I'm nothing compared to anything. I'm something."

Busy Bumblebee ~

Since I woke up so early today, I thought I should just update my blog a little.

It has been a busy month for me, and it will get busier the next few months because I have planned to do a lot of stuff.

Last Saturday I went for 2 volunteer interviews, PAssion North Run and BNP Paribas WTA Finals. Good news is I got in for both events. I'm really excited for the latter especially because this is the first time I'm volunteering for such a grand event. What is that event about? It's a tennis tournament for women all over the world. Really excited because I get to see professional players up-close! And this is also the first time it's held in Singapore so I'm really glad to be part of the final force for this event. :)

Another thing that I'm currently active in now is 围棋(WéiqíIt's a board game that uses black and white stones. No idea how I'm going to explain this game actually so I shall just post a picture of it.

Taken from Wiki
I have been playing this game on/off since 2009. Not exactly 5 years since I stopped for quite some time when I was in sec 4 and poly year 1/2. It was only when I went for the overseas intern that I got back my interest for this game.

While I was over in Liverpool, I decided to join an online competition organised by Singapore Weiqi Association (SWA). It's my first ever competition and I got 4th. x) This really gave me the confidence and also boosted my passion for weiqi.

This coming weekend (13/14 Sep), I'm participating in a team competition held by SP aka SP open. Finally in my 3 years in Ngee Ann, I'm "representing" NP in a competition. The reason why I got in is also because weiqi is not a very well known mindsport in Singapore anyway. But still, I get to represent my school which further fuel my desire to improve.

There's also an upcoming competition in Thailand which I have joined. Hopefully I will be strong enough by then to help my team win something! Can't wait!

Oh I'm also starting to be active in gym with my gym mate, Xue Ying. It really feels good to sweat because you exercised and not because of the weather. And because of the gym session I have been sleeping early which led me to waking up super early like 5am in the morning. :'D But it's good for my body so I shall not complain about it. x)

It's gonna be a busy year for me but I know it will be a memorable journey for me. Last year of poly and I'm joining so many stuff.... I CAN DO IT!

Cheers,
Wei Ting

我的生日!!

Yesterday marks the beginning of my 19 years of life. Throughout my life I have met many people, and I can really say that I'm very blessed with good friends. Friends who are sincere. Friends who are true to themselves and others. Friends who made an effort to be friends with me.

This year I decided to privatize my birth date on Facebook so people can't see when my birthday is. I just find that wishing someone "Happy Birthday" because you are reminded to by FB is not sincere enough. That's why I have stopped doing so for quite a while. It's not that I do not wish to wish them a Happy Birthday but I just feel that I would rather not be prompted by FB to send wishes to others.

First to wish me happy birthday was my dearest sister AKA "Hubby". She called me around 12am when I was still on the MRT on the way back home after NDP. I was really touched and would have continued to talk to her on the phone if not for my low battery.

Thank you very much my dearest sister. By now you should know that our relationship is a very special one, and that our bond has been built by tears and laughter, time and effort. Thank you very much for entering into my life! It's really fate that brought us together because I could have chosen a nearer secondary school but I did not. :) If I didn't get into Hua Yi, I wouldn't have met you, Si Xian, Jing Wen and Shi Ling. :)

LOVE YA GIRLS!

Second wish was from my sleepy mother~ She woke up when I entered her room and mumbled a "Happy Birthday to you" before going back to sleep again. x)

Third was from Teck Wei, my 围棋师父. Thank you once again! We haven't met for long but it does seems like we have met for quite a long while. :)

There are many more wishes from my friends and family but it will be kinda long to list them down xD Thanks everybody!

In the afternoon I got a surprise from my poly clique. It seems they always managed to catch me off-guard, when I'm in my most "auntie" style. ~ I cried because I was really surprised and touched by them. Told them not to come but they still did and they got me 9 cupcakes from Twelve Cupcakes!!

From left: Emelia, Hui Ying, Yeong Cheng, Me, Xue Ying, Wen Rin

I ate 2!! Guess which? XD
Someone managed to guess both correctly so it's possible to guess them correctly! :P

From Emelia, Wen Rin, Hui Ying & Yeong Cheng
I cried again when I saw this.
This parrot was made by Emelia
and it really reminds me of Sunny,
who passed away last year.
I miss you Sunny. Fly free and we will always love you!

Yellow card from Xue Ying
Red card from Kristal
Cake card from Wen Been (Wen Rin's brother)

From Wen Been :D

In the evening, I had a mini celebration with a cake decorated by my second brother and his girlfriend, Stephanie Jie Jie.

Thank goodness they didn't buy any birthday cake because there's already a lot of cakes in our fridge. x.x

Before my day ended, I was asked by Si Xian to go read her blog. I did and I cried. Again. Sheesh! It's my birthday and I'm crying way too much haha! Thank you my "youngest daughter"~

Yes we should do a duet and yes let's stay single together!!! :D When you are able to go overseas without your parents we shall go some place to hike hike hike!! :DDD

Looking forward to this Saturday when you all will be coming to stayover at my house! We shall have some girls' time again, HTHT, gossip, and get silly!!!

LOVE YOU ALL MY FRIENDS!! MUAH MUAH MUAH! *Flying kisses all over* ;D

Cheers,
A happy 19 year old girl :)

♥ My Beloved Concourse 2 ♥

I'm really glad to have decided to sign up for this year NDP. At first I couldn't volunteer for this year's NDP because I was still over at Liverpool for internship. But Heartware opened up the registration again when I came back to Singapore. Thanks to this, I managed to meet my beloved friends from concourse 2.

We all started out as strangers. Still trying to match the names we have on the whatsapp group to the face of the person in real life. I know I didn't exactly try to mingle with you guys at first because it's pretty tiring to go through all the "Hi I'm XXX, what's your name?" etc. Still we managed to get closer while we were doing our duties. Working together really brings us closer to one another. :)

Still missing Shin (one of our group ldr), Sara, Nora & Joyce

From top left: Jun De, Khairee, Clarke, Kang Sheng, Jing Zhe, Frederick
Middle: Carol, Qira, Haziqah
Bottom: Chen Lin, Ki, Yana, Sarah (our group ldr!), Me, Jia Yi
This is the very first photo we took together. When we still didn't know how crazy we would get. We all look pretty innocent here don't you think? ;)

When work starts, some of our pranks start to show themselves too! Most of the pranks are by Fred and Yana, the 99 babies. ~

Oh and since we were told not to take selfie when we are working, we decided to take many selfies before and after our duties. Not too bad~ We aren't breaking any rules here! :D

There are a lot of photos but I decided to post only a few.

Combined Rehearsal 3:

NE show 1:

NE show 3 (deployed to Woodlands Primary School):

*Disclaimer* We didn't bully Fred! He himself chose to do this and we merely help him out. *snickers*

Preview:

Here Shin, our another leader, appeared! xD Still can't see Nora because she's always late ~

Actual Day:

Photobombed by this........ weird guy ...

NORA in blue (second picture)
Yes Nora is a Chinese HAHA!

We had many more crazy selfies, mostly by Fred and Yana again, because they are usually the ones with the monopod. But my phone do not have enough memory space so I had to delete quite a lot. ><

But I'm really glad for this bunch of monkeys and old "souls" for this wonderful volunteer experience. It's my second and best ever. :) Hope we will meet again for next year NDP and cheers to more outings in future!! :D

Flame of Life

It is always easy to be displease with oneself, others, and other things.

It is always easy to compare yourself with someone better.

It is always easy to find oneself lacking in one way or another.

It is always easy to just find the faults.

Everybody wants to move forward.

Everybody wants to be better.

Everybody craves for more.

But stop to look around.

Stop, to appreciate what you have now.

Stop, to be thankful for the flame of life you have now.

This flame of life allows you to go on.

So don't go treating it badly.

One day this flame will be taken away from you.

So till then, hold onto it tightly.

And enjoy what this little flame of life can bring to you.

Chef and the apprentice

Since I do not have to go to school today, I decided to help my mom with cooking. Finally time for me to show my "skills" in cooking! (Actually all I did was cut the vegetables and cut some more. :D)

Someday I do want to be able to cook on my own though~ Told my mom that she can "retire" and not cook anymore since our family have 4 new cooks, namely my elder brother, Mona (his gf), my second brother and his gf (Stephanie).

The first pair cook mostly spicy food, since Mona is from China and loves spicy food. The second pair cook just about anything they can find on YouTube (just like me!).

So then I told my mom, "Maybe I should focus on Japanese/ Korean cuisine, so you can enjoy all different kind of cuisine". *laughs*

If only our kitchen is big enough for 6 different cooks (including me) ~

Anyway here's the picture for today's adventure in the kitchen!

Chef Mama and me!

I cut the tofu and the vege! Oh and stir-fried the spinach! It was pretty easy actually.
Proud of myself hehe~

And no, I can't handle fish yet. :P

Hopefully I will be able to cook more often in future! It really is fun to cook. ^^

Cheers~
